About Redmond Literary Arts
I’m a longtime Redmond resident, an author, and an adjunct faculty member in the continuing ed program at Bellevue College, where I teach aspiring memoirists.
I’m also the founder of a new grassroots initiative called Redmond Literary Arts.
Redmond has incredible energy and momentum right now. We have our new light rail stations, a walkable downtown, and growing density — and we also have terrific indie bookstores, a thriving public library, and the City’s Poet Laureate program. I believe Redmond is poised to become a true literary hub — and I am excited to help shape that vision.
Hi, I’m Jenny Lisk
I quietly launched a series of small Author Circles in June 2025. These are informal monthly meetups for local nonfiction, memoir, and literary authors. We meet one Saturday morning each month in downtown Redmond, and these gatherings are about connection, sharing ideas, and building relationships among authors.
Looking ahead, I’m planning to add Author Salons to our programming. These will be public-facing events with authors in conversation — designed to spark ideas, build community, and invite the broader Eastside community into Redmond’s burgeoning literary life. My goal is to offer the kind of cultural amenities typically reserved for big cities — right here in Redmond.
My long-term vision is to build a literary hub here — something vibrant, sustainable, and community-building. I believe this work is well-aligned with the city’s goals in its “Redmond 2050” plan — especially its emphasis on:
Expanding arts and cultural access
Activating downtown with community-focused programming
Fostering cultural experiences tied to placemaking, growth, and transit accessibility
Redmond 2050 calls for creating vibrant urban communities downtown and in our other designated growth centers. I believe Redmond Literary Arts can be part of that story by offering the types of arts & culture opportunities that help make a city vibrant for its residents.
Redmond Literary Arts is a grassroots initiative cultivating a vibrant literary culture on the Eastside. Through community-centered author gatherings and public literary events, we’re writing the next chapter of Redmond’s cultural arts story — together.
If you’re a local author or author-to-be, I hope you’ll join us for our next Author Circle.
